The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is actively considering an amendment to the fisheries law with the aim of addressing the economic challenges confronting fishermen. These challenges have been attributed to stringent regulations that have adversely impacted their livelihoods. Minister Thammanat Prompow has affirmed the ministry's awareness of the concerns raised by fishing groups who have experienced hardships as a result of the current provisions within the Fisheries Act. It's worth noting that the primary objective of the law is to combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing practices.
