Canadian legislators have recently passed amendments to Bill 78 (also referred to as the "act mainly to improve the transparency of enterprises" or the "Transparency Act") which alter the previous "act respecting the legal publicity of enterprises" or the "Publicity Act." The new amendments require that any enterprise subject to the Publicity Act must disclose its "ultimate beneficiaries," a rule which will affect cooperatives operating in the country as well as various other business enterprises.
