On February 8, 2024, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and Urdaneta City University (UCU) formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to launch the CDA Law Awareness Program (CLAP). This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academia and the cooperative sector by educating law students on the Cooperative Development Authority Charter of 2019 (RA 11364), its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and related legal frameworks. By combining theoretical education with practical application, the CLAP seeks to enhance the legal expertise of future professionals in the cooperative field.
The agreement with UCU marks the beginning of anticipated future collaborations designed to deepen knowledge and raise awareness about the cooperative sector in the Philippines. CLAP has already been introduced at other institutions, including the University of Makati (UMAK) and the University of the Cordilleras (UC) in Baguio City, reflecting a growing network of educational partnerships to strengthen the cooperative movement through comprehensive legal education and hands-on experience.
