UK Government Review of Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies

This year, a "comprehensive modernization" of the co-operative sector for a generation will start following a significant announcement at Co-op Congress 2023. The Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and the Friendly Societies Act 1992 will be reviewed this fall, 2023. Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister Andrew Griffith MP hopes for the modernization process to develop "a more modern and supportive business environment which sets cooperatives up for another 152 years of growth."
